Strategic Synergy Sparks Steel Surge in Southern Sector
Jeevaka Industries, a Hyderabad-based structural steel producer, has initiated a major technological expansion by commissioning a new billet caster and rebar rolling mill from Primetals Technologies. The project, set to commence operation in the first half of 2026, demonstrates Jeevaka’s drive to strengthen its presence in the long product market while streamlining processing and boosting operational reliability.
Casting Confidence Through Concast Collaboration
The 3-strand billet caster will be delivered by Concast India Private Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of Primetals Technologies. This system is engineered to cast square billets ranging from 100 to 200 millimeters. Equipped with a high-speed diagonal up-cut hydraulic shear, dummy bar system, and sequencing ladle car for up to 50 metric tons of liquid steel, the setup promises precision, productivity, and durability for continuous casting operations.
Rebar Revolution Realized via Rapid Rolling Refinement
The rebar outlet will be one of the fastest in the world, operating at a top speed of 45 meters per second. Designed to roll 350,000 metric tons annually of 8 to 40 millimeter rebars, this mill employs an advanced 8-stand eDrive Morgan No-Twist Mill system, integrating pre-no-twist mill shears, pinch rolls, and rotary entry mechanisms to ensure seamless, uninterrupted bar processing.
Electromechanical Excellence Elevates Efficiency Expectations
The Morgan No-Twist Mill leverages Primetals Technologies’ proprietary eDrive solution, a blend of enhanced motor technologies and mechanical precision. Each mill stand is individually powered, granting unmatched flexibility and control. This innovation reduces capital outlay and operational expenses while delivering consistent performance across various rebar and rod dimensions.
Thermal Tactics Tailored Through Temperature Tenacity
Temperature management is handled by the Morgan Water Box and its accompanying Long Rolling Enhanced Temperature Control System. These components enable precise, in-line control over billet temperature, ensuring that metallurgical properties remain intact throughout rolling. This ensures final product strength, ductility, and surface integrity meet both market and engineering expectations.
Infrastructure Impetus Inspires Industrial Innovation
Jeevaka’s strategic upgrade arrives at a time when India's infrastructure demand is soaring. The new plant will supply critical components such as beams, channels, flats, and squares used in bridges, power plants, highways, and large-scale buildings. With this equipment, Jeevaka positions itself as a frontrunner in meeting national demand for pre-engineered steel materials.
Heritage & High-Tech Harmonize in Historic Partnership
The collaboration between Jeevaka and Concast India is not new. Their earlier 2-strand caster has been in uninterrupted service for sixteen years, producing high-quality billets. This history of trust and performance laid the foundation for the current order, reinforcing Jeevaka’s confidence in Primetals Technologies’ ability to deliver next-generation production capabilities.
Key Takeaways:
Jeevaka ordered a 3-strand billet caster & high-speed rebar outlet from Primetals Technologies.
The rebar mill will roll 350,000 metric tons annually at 45 meters per second, boosting output.
Advanced eDrive & temperature control systems reduce costs & ensure superior product quality.
