Johnston said, “This system was selected for its global track record and ability to produce high-quality steel products reliably.” Its unique endless casting & rolling process removes the need for billet reheating & cold storage, cutting energy use by up to 75% compared to older, traditional methods.

The Pinkenba facility is built to operate entirely on renewable energy. Its design targets carbon emissions of just 0.37 metric tons of CO₂ per metric ton of steel, an impressive 80% reduction versus traditional blast furnace production. Unlike older plants that require multiple sites & complex handling, Pinkenba’s single-site design will produce wire rod, hot-rolled mesh, spooled coil & bar under one roof.
