Alter Steel has confirmed a $750 million deal with Italy’s Danieli to build Queensland’s first new steel mill in more than 40 years. Using local scrap and Danieli’s advanced Mi.Da technology, the Pinkenba plant will produce 500,000 metric tons of reinforcing steel each year. The design targets an 80% emissions cut and faster delivery, with completion expected by late 2027.
