Primetals Technologies successfully upgraded Stahl Gerlafingen's wire rod mill in Switzerland, eliminating vibration-related shutdowns that previously disrupted production schedules. The sixth-generation laying head technology incorporates laser speed gauges for real-time monitoring & precision coil placement. Technical Project Manager Christiane Hess confirmed the upgrade enables higher production speeds while improving process stability. The facility now produces 600,000 metric tons annually of quenched rebar & low carbon wire rod with enhanced quality consistency.
