Poland's Pecuniary Pivot & JSW's Precarious Preservation

Poland's President has signed a law allowing the Industrial Development Agency to lend directly to strategic companies in financial distress. The primary beneficiary is Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, the European Union's largest coking coal producer, which reported a net loss of six point two five billion zlotys in 2025. JSW has already sold two subsidiaries for over one billion zlotys and signed a two point one billion zloty supply deal with ArcelorMittal Poland. First quarter 2026 coking coal production rose nearly twenty percent year-on-year to two point seven eight million metric tons.
