In a move stirring steel-sector stakeholders, the UK’s Trade Remedies Authority has commenced an anti-dumping investigation into imports of hot-rolled steel plate from South Korea. Sparked by a petition from Spartan UK Ltd, the inquiry seeks to assess whether these imports are being sold below fair value, thereby injuring Britain’s domestic steel producers.

Spartan UK Ltd, a prominent British manufacturer, has alleged that surging imports from South Korea are undermining local industry through predatory pricing. These hot-rolled steel plates, used in shipbuilding, bridges, also heavy machinery, have reportedly flooded the UK market at unsustainable prices, triggering price suppression also production losses.
