Britain's Burdensome Barrier: CBAM's Costly Conundrum

The European Union will not exempt the United Kingdom from its Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism unless both parties formally link their emissions trading systems. Beyond direct carbon costs, exporters face extensive administrative requirements including emissions reporting, verification, & certification processes. UK Steel warns the mechanism undermines export competitiveness in price-sensitive markets where marginal cost differences prove decisive, particularly against Chinese competition.
