Lhoist: Dolomite Decarbonization: Deutschland's Daring Departure

Lhoist partnered alongside Air Liquide to build a carbon capture facility in Wülfrath, Germany, targeting one million metric tons of annual CO₂ emissions mitigation. The facility will produce carbon-neutral dolomite using biomass fuels instead of fossil fuels. This supports thyssenkrupp Steel's decarbonization efforts in Duisburg. The project integrates alongside existing renewable hydrogen infrastructure. North Rhine-Westphalia officials endorsed the initiative as exemplifying regional industrial transformation goals. The partnership demonstrates collaborative approaches combining private investment, governmental support, & technological innovation for industrial decarbonization.
