DNV awarded Samsung Heavy Industries an Approval in Principle for its 80,000m³ liquefied hydrogen carrier design. The vessel features vacuum-insulated spherical tanks alongside glass fiber-reinforced plastic supports designed for -253°C operations. The certification was presented at Gastech 2025 in Milan, validating advanced cryogenic engineering solutions. The design targets boil-off gas minimization & enhanced operational efficiency. This represents significant progress toward commercial hydrogen transportation capabilities supporting global clean energy supply chains.
