Steele Tech Fabrication was fined $90,000 after a worker was injured by a falling steel beam. The March 2022 accident occurred at the company's Barrhead, Alberta plant. A telehandler forklift dropped an I-beam that struck a worker walking behind to guide the load. The worker suffered serious but undisclosed injuries. The company pleaded guilty under the Occupational Health & Safety Act. The fine goes to Barrhead Composite High School for shop improvements.
