GSCC's Germinal Gambit: Steel's Emissions Standards' Epochal Evolution
The Global Steel Climate Council has launched a review to update its global steel emissions standards. The initiative aims to strengthen how CO₂ emissions from steel production are measured, reported, and verified across different production routes and countries. Updated standards will support green steel certification, align with carbon pricing regulations like the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and help buyers make informed procurement decisions. The review addresses growing demand for rigorous, comparable emissions data as decarbonisation pressure on the steel sector intensifies globally.
