Germany's Green Gambit: Backing Bold EU Auto-Steel Synergy
Germany backs the inclusion of green steel in the European Union's automotive package, pushing for lifecycle carbon rules that cover the steel used to build vehicles. A typical car contains around nine hundred to one thousand kilograms of steel, whose production generates significant CO₂ emissions currently ignored by existing regulations. The move aims to create guaranteed demand for low-carbon steel, helping green steel producers secure investment & scale production across Europe.
