Europe's Epochal Edict: EU's Provisional Pact Protects Precious Steel

The European Union has reached a provisional deal on new steel safeguard measures, updating tariff-rate quotas to protect European producers from surging diverted imports. The move follows the United States' reimposition of steel tariffs, which redirected global export volumes toward Europe. The measures support the European steel industry's green transition investments & complement the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. The European steel sector employs around 330,000 workers directly & underpins millions more jobs in downstream manufacturing.
