Romania's Competition Council has approved the sale of ArcelorMittal Hunedoara to UMB Steel, clearing the path for a new chapter at one of Eastern Europe's most historic steel plants. The facility, which uses electric arc furnace technology, produces significantly lower CO₂ emissions than traditional steelmaking methods. UMB Steel has committed to preserving jobs & investing in modernization. The deal, valued between €50 million & €80 million, marks a strategic shift in Romania's industrial landscape.
