Furnace Finesse Forges Frontline Feat

NMDC Steel’s blast furnace achieved an exceptional 11,101 metric tons of hot metal, 117 % of its rated capacity, on June 22, 2025. This performance milestone underlines the plant’s advanced metallurgy and process control, further enhancing its standing in India’s private steel sector.

C Shift Conjures Consistency and Colossal Contribution

The C Shift alone contributed 3,759 metric tons to the total output, surpassing its April record of 3,729 metric tons. This underscores robust labour coordination, shift planning, and real‑time process optimization.

Coke Cutter Craftsmanship Catalyses 79 % Yield

A peak coke yield of 79 % in the blast furnace reflects improved cutter precision and enhanced raw material quality control. This translates into stronger calorific efficiency and lower fuel costs.

Material Movement Maximises Metric Tonnes

Supporting operations achieved record transfers: over 10,000 metric tons of coal reclaimed, 18,203 metric tons of sinter to furnace, and 5,910 metric tons of iron ore lumps moved. This logistical synergy exemplifies systems‑level coordination.

Turbine Triumph Trims Tariffs and Saves ₹60 Lakh

NMDC’s Top Recovery Turbine reached its 16.4 MW design capacity, generating on‑site power and saving over ₹60 lakh monthly. This highlights the benefit of transforming waste heat into valuable energy.

Oxygen Output Outperforms Operational Odds

The Oxygen Generating Unit produced 34,000 Nm³/hr, exceeding its contract requirement. The surplus ensures robust supply for intense metallurgical reactions and sustained furnace performance.

Smelting Symphony Soars with 52 Heats

In the Steel Melting Shop, the plant tapped 52 heats, producing 9,400 metric tons of liquid steel. The Tundish Casting Unit achieved 54 heats, led by Tundish No. 06 at 29 heats, showcasing precise steel tapping and thermal control.

By‑Product Brilliance Boosts Sulphur Yields

The By‑Product Plant recorded 1,000 kg of sulphur in a single day, the highest of the fiscal year. This reflects the plant’s holistic approach to resource recovery and environmental compliance.

Key Takeaways:

  • NMDC Steel produced 11,101 metric tons of hot metal on June 22, 2025, at 117 % of furnace capacity.

  • Energy recovery via the 16.4 MW turbine is saving ₹60 lakh per month.

  • Steel melting, casting, and by‑product systems achieved record volumes and yields.
