In a landmark industrial integration, international technology group ANDRITZ has achieved final acceptance for a cutting-edge continuous pickling line & acid regeneration plant at voestalpine’s cold rolling mill #3 in Linz, Austria. The installation unifies pickling & rolling processes into one streamlined operation, boosting both productivity & steel quality across various advanced sectors including automotive, construction & household appliances.

 

Technological Triumph & Tailored Transformation

The integrated setup supplied by ANDRITZ includes a continuous pickling line, acid regeneration plant, acid purification facility, & silicon removal systems. These innovations were developed specifically for processing ultra-high strength steel grades & specialized materials used in e-mobility. With an annual throughput of 1.8 million metric tons, the pickling line operates using hydrochloric acid, which is fully recycled to meet stringent sustainability benchmarks.

 

Regenerative Refinement & Resource Recovery

A centerpiece of the installation is the world’s most modern acid regeneration system, which transforms spent hydrochloric acid into reusable form while generating high-purity iron oxide as a valuable by-product. This high-purity iron oxide is a key raw material for e-mobility applications, adding further industrial utility to the plant’s ecological ethos. The plant boasts nearly 100% recovery rates, underlining its environmental superiority.

 

Purification Precision & Pollution Prevention

The acid purification plant ensures that the by-product iron oxide maintains its purity for use in high-tech sectors. Meanwhile, advanced exhaust gas & wastewater treatment units meet top-tier environmental regulations, minimizing the plant’s ecological footprint.
