Tariff Tangles & Tenacious Transitions Temper Trade Turmoil

NeoSmelt, backed by BHP, BlueScope, Mitsui Iron Ore Development, Rio Tinto & Woodside Energy, appointed Hatch to design and manage Australia’s largest electric smelting furnace project. Scheduled to start operations by 2028, the plant will use Pilbara iron ore and CRISP+ technology to produce low-carbon molten iron, aiming to reduce emissions significantly. This project showcases how industrial collaboration can transform the Pilbara into a hub for sustainable metallurgy, creating jobs and meeting the rising demand for green steel.
