Metinvest Adria, a venture between Metinvest and Danieli, has signed a €3 billion program agreement to build a next-generation green steel plant in Piombino, Italy. The project plans to produce 2.7 million metric tons annually by late 2027 using electric arc furnaces and recycled feedstock, reducing Italy’s steel imports and CO₂ emissions. Supported by Italian ministries and local authorities, it will create about 1,100 jobs, reviving Piombino’s economy and demonstrating European collaboration in sustainable industry.
