Oyak, Turkey’s military pension fund, has expanded its energy sector portfolio by acquiring a 51% stake in Isken, which operates the Sugözü thermal power plant. This move enhances energy self-sufficiency for Oyak’s steel, cement, and automotive operations. Located in Adana, the 1,320 megawatt facility adds stability to Oyak’s industrial supply chain. While the acquisition supports economic resilience, environmental concerns remain due to coal usage. Oyak has pledged to explore emission-reduction strategies as part of its long-term roadmap.
