Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works has achieved a 27.4% emissions cut since 2017 under Russia’s Federal Clean Air Project, investing about $670 million in modernisation. MMK’s robust network of monitoring stations tracks over 3,000 pollutant readings daily, ensuring data transparency. According to Chief Ecologist Igor Burmistrov, these efforts have improved urban air quality by 3.9 times, showing real progress towards sustainable steelmaking.
