Tariff Tangles & Tenacious Transitions Temper Trade Turmoil
The Bureau of International Recycling, led by Susie Burrage and Arnaud Brunet, has urged a fair, data-based approach to defining green steel. Their latest position paper warns that current standards risk rewarding high-emission steel while ignoring electric arc furnace production’s lower-carbon benefits. BIR also stresses the need to keep recycled steel trade open and to include recyclers in policymaking to build a genuinely circular and decarbonised steel sector.
