Outokumpu, the world's leading sustainable stainless steel producer, has endorsed the European Commission's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism proposal. The Finnish company operates the European Union's only chromium mine & achieves carbon footprints up to 75% lower than industry averages. Outokumpu urges stronger anticircumvention measures, expanded downstream goods coverage by 2027, & inclusion of indirect emissions. The mechanism takes effect in January 2026.
