LKAB & Hitachi Energy have formed a long-term partnership to enable fossil-free iron production. The collaboration will provide advanced electrical power systems for a new demonstration plant in Gällivare. This plant will use green hydrogen instead of coal, aiming to produce 1.35 million metric tons of sponge iron annually. The initiative is a key step in decarbonizing the steel industry.
