DNV's Dexterous Digital Dynamics: Decoding Drift

DNV launched three advanced time-domain analysis methods integrated into Sesam software for floating offshore wind turbines. Direct Load Generation computes hydrodynamic pressures directly, Load Reconstruction uses pre-calculated transfer functions, & Response Reconstruction derives structural responses from unit-load functions. These methods dramatically reduce computational time for simulating turbine responses to wind & wave forces while improving accuracy. Traditional comprehensive fatigue analysis requires 2-4 months of continuous processing per turbine. The innovations support DNV's projection of 331 gigawatts floating wind capacity by 2060, enabling faster design cycles & enhanced structural assessments ensuring safety & regulatory compliance.
