Australia's Audacious Ambition: Green Steel's Genesis

Australia develops green steel through two approaches: upgrading existing blast furnaces and building new electric arc furnaces. Current facilities produce 2.07 tons of CO₂ per ton of steel. The transformation faces competition from Middle Eastern producers using cheap natural gas. Australia has 30% of global iron ore reserves and abundant renewable energy resources supporting the transition.
