Tata Steel UK will stop production for five weeks at its key Welsh operations in Llanwern, Trostre, and Port Talbot. The company blames continued weak market demand for the extended stoppage, which is much longer than usual. This comes as Tata urges the UK government to protect its access to EU markets amid proposed new steel tariffs. The company is currently importing steel while it builds a new electric arc furnace.
