Tata’s Tumultuous Trimming & Tenacious Trade-Union Tirade
Tata Steel scaled back planned layoffs from 1,600 to 1,224 after strong criticism from unions like FNV, CNV & De Unie. The company’s cost-cutting plan aims to save €150 million annually, mainly by reducing management jobs & leaving vacancies unfilled. Despite this reduction, unions argue thousands of workers remain at risk & many still lack clarity on future roles. Talks between union leaders & management continue, with possible strike action on the horizon.
