Korean Steel's Steep Slump: Tariff Tribulations Trigger

South Korean steel exports to America crashed 26% in July 2025 after President Trump doubled tariffs to 50%. The $283 million export value hit a four-year low as volumes dropped 24%. Korean steelmakers POSCO & Hyundai Steel responded by announcing a $5.8 billion Louisiana plant investment to avoid tariffs & maintain American market access.
