Postponed Provisions Propel Protracted Parleys
The European Commission has postponed reintroducing country-specific quotas on angles, shapes & sections for Turkey, South Korea & the UK by one month to August 2025, following concerns about disrupted trade flows under the earlier system. The adjusted quotas aim to reflect historic trade levels more fairly, running until June 2026. Importers still face a 25% duty if shipments exceed these new quotas. The Commission also pledged to consult EU member states, underlining its effort to protect domestic producers while keeping historic trade routes open.
