Nuclear Nexus: 3D-printed Steel Survives Reactor Rigors

Oak Ridge National Laboratory achieved a nuclear manufacturing breakthrough by successfully testing 3D-printed stainless steel capsules in reactor conditions. The 316H steel components survived month-long irradiation at the High Flux Isotope Reactor. This proves additive manufacturing can meet nuclear safety standards while reducing costs & production time for critical reactor components.
