Liberty Steel faces a $2.77 million lawsuit from ArcelorMittal for unpaid billet purchases. The lawsuit comes as Liberty pursues $70 million in new funding. The company plans to expand its Peoria plant & relocate headquarters from Dallas. Liberty aims to create 700 new jobs & reach 700,000 metric tons annual capacity. The company restarted operations in March 2025 after closing in September 2024. BlackRock leads the investment consortium supporting the restart.
