Ivanhoe Atlantic Inc achieved a critical step for the Kon Kweni Iron Ore Project by gaining environmental approval in Liberia for its Scoping Report and Terms of References. The $50 million Phase 1 plan includes roads, rail sidings and port facilities to export Guinea’s iron ore through Buchanan Port. Nearly 470 jobs are expected during construction and 370 operational jobs after completion. The project balances growth with local community interests and environmental safeguards, aiming to begin construction by late 2025 and strengthen Liberia’s role as a regional trade hub.
