Indian Stainless Steel Stalwarts Seek Safeguards from Substandard Shipments

Indian stainless steel producers filed a comprehensive antidumping petition with the Directorate General of Trade Remedies seeking protective duties on cheap imports from China, Vietnam, & Indonesia. The Indian Stainless Steel Development Association submitted the application amid a 1.73 million metric ton import surge in 2024-25 that threatens domestic manufacturers. Jindal Stainless managing director Abhyuday Jindal emphasized the urgent need for regulatory intervention against substandard dumped materials, particularly given global trade uncertainties including recent US tariff implementations affecting Indian steel exports.
