Dutch Deliberation: Tata Steel's €2B Decarbonisation Dossier
The Dutch parliament has debated a proposed subsidy of up to €2 billion for Tata Steel Nederland to support its shift to cleaner steel production. The funding would be paid in stages, tied to meeting specific targets, including climate neutrality by 2045. The total cost of the transition is estimated at between €2.3 billion and €4 billion. A parliamentary vote on related motions is scheduled for April 14, 2026, with lawmakers raising concerns about health impacts, binding conditions, and competitive fairness.
