SSAB’s Sustainable, Strategic Sourcing Secures Superior Supply
SSAB secured a long term deal for low-carbon ferromolybdenum. The alloy is produced using hydrogen instead of coal, cutting CO₂ emissions by 85%. Traditional ferromolybdenum emits 10 to 12 metric tons per metric ton. The new supply achieves below 1.5 metric tons. SSAB will use the material at its Oxelösund and Luleå mills. The company aims to offer fossil-free steel commercially by 2026 without a green price premium.
