Steel Stalwarts Spurn Super-Credit Subterfuge
Germany's steel federation, WV Stahl, has criticised a new Franco-German plan for the car industry. The plan would replace a dedicated credit for low-emission steel by a wider super-credit for electric vehicles from 2027. Steel & aluminium would count together under the new scheme. WV Stahl says this could weaken demand for green steel & hurt the market steelmakers need to justify their investments. Chief executive Kerstin Maria Rippel wants a separate steel credit kept & started earlier, no later than 2030.
