Algoma Steel overcame record snowfall delays to complete first arc & first steel production from its $881M CAD electric arc furnace project in July 2025. The transformation aims to cut CO₂ emissions by 70% & modernise capacity to 3.7 million metric tons. CEO Michael Garcia says this marks the start of Algoma’s journey to become North America’s lowest-cost green steel producer.
