Washington's Watchful Wariness Weighs Carbon Controls
The United States has begun a formal review of a major European climate policy. The policy is the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, known as CBAM. The Office of the United States Trade Representative launched a public consultation. It wants to assess how the mechanism affects American producers, workers & exports. The review seeks evidence of extra costs, lost sales & reduced market access. It pays special attention to small & medium-sized businesses. The agency is also asking whether the mechanism is a trade barrier. Interested parties can submit their comments until November the ninth, two thousand twenty-six.
