The United Kingdom has recognised India's Carbon Credit Trading Scheme under its Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. United Kingdom importers can now seek carbon price relief for eligible Indian goods. This prevents Indian exporters from paying carbon costs twice. The recognition benefits steel, aluminium, fertiliser and cement exporters. It follows technical discussions between the two governments and supports India's bid for similar arrangements with the European Union.
