Britain has published illustrative carbon border values for 2027. The rate is GBP9.69 per metric ton of CO₂e. For steel, the charge is far lower than under the European system. One Indian hot-rolled coil would owe about GBP32 in Britain but EUR314.43 in the bloc. European producers worry the gap could open a back door. Talks in November may decide how the two systems fit together.
