Ankara & Brussels Broker Bridges over Carbon's Chasm

Turkey & the European Union met in Brussels on 15 October for their third High Level Dialogue on Trade. Both sides agreed to work together on the green transition, the circular economy & the carbon border levy. Turkey launched its own emissions trading system on 27 August to align to European rules. Turkish steelmakers remain worried. New EU steel safeguards & a proposed Made in EU law could cut their exports by 4 million metric tons a year. Steel exports to the bloc already fell 21.7% to 3.2 million metric tons in the first eight months.
