Tata Steel UK: Prodigious Piling & Profound Progress at Port Talbot

Tata Steel's Port Talbot site has completed massive excavation work, removing 360,000 metric tons of material to create three stepped plateaus 12 meters below ground level. Sir Robert McAlpine's construction teams demolished obsolete buildings & recycled excavated material into aggregate for foundation work. Over 1,000 piles, some reaching 28 meters deep, will be installed starting in the New Year to support the new Electric Arc Furnace, Consteel conveyor system, & fume-extraction plant, marking a pivotal phase in Britain's steel industry decarbonization.
