SSAB's Raahe mill supplies high-strength steel plates for Royal Caribbean's Icon-class cruise ships, built by Meyer Turku in Finland. The third ship, Legend of the Seas, is three hundred and sixty-five meters long and carries up to seven thousand six hundred passengers. SSAB's laboratory runs two hundred and forty thousand tests a year to ensure steel quality and safety. The two companies are now working together on low-emission steel solutions to reduce the carbon footprint of future cruise ships.
