Sidenor's Sustainable Saga: Hydrogen's Heating Hegemony

Sidenor, a Spanish special steel manufacturer, successfully tested green hydrogen combustion at its Basauri plant for ladle heating operations. The company replaced conventional burners alongside hydrogen-based oxy-fuel technology, completing a full heating cycle & reaching required operating temperatures. These tests addressed thermal processes requiring high temperatures that are difficult to electrify. The experiments occurred as part of the IS2H4C project under the European Union's Horizon Europe programme. Sidenor emphasized its commitment to environmental safety & decarbonization. The hydrogen trials complement recent acquisitions of scrap recycling firms Eplus, Miguel Martín, & Aguilar Metal Recycling, strengthening the company's sustainable raw material supply chain.
