Saarstahl chief executive Stefan Rauber says green steel depends on cheap, reliable electricity. His company plans to produce about 3.5 million metric tons of carbon-reduced steel a year by 2028 to 2029. He wants Europe to agree a common energy plan. He also calls for an effective carbon border tool, firm trade protection & secure scrap supplies. Power prices differ widely across the region, he warns, & that gap must close.
