Australia has approved a major low-carbon iron project in the Pilbara. Backed by POSCO, Marubeni & China Steel Corporation, the plant will make about 2 million metric tons of HBI each year. It will use gas-based MIDREX technology & include hydrogen facilities. Construction should take around two and a half years. The site could operate for up to 101 years.
