Japan's government is seeking a massive budget to transform its steel industry. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry requested one point two six trillion yen for green initiatives. The money will help steelmakers switch to cleaner electric arc furnaces. Japan also plans to use more green steel in public construction projects, aiming for three million tons annually by the early 2030s.
