Liberty Galați, Romania's major steelworks, is under insolvency auction after GFG Alliance's financial collapse. Gulf Cooperation Council investors have expressed serious interest, drawn by the plant's European Union market access & strategic location on the Danube. The facility employs up to nine thousand workers directly & supports tens of thousands more. Any acquisition must clear European Union foreign investment screening & include binding commitments on employment & decarbonization investment.
