India's Imperative Inflection: Green Steel's Gauntlet Thrown
India's Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change has issued a draft notification setting greenhouse gas emission targets for 255 iron and steel units, including JSW Steel, Tata Steel, the Steel Authority of India, and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel. The targets use 2023–24 as the baseline and set 2026–27 as the first compliance year, aligned with India's Carbon Credit Trading System. A sixty-day consultation window is now open for industry feedback before the framework is finalised.
