The International Maritime Organization’s Marine Environmental Protection Committee held its 84th session in London from 27 April to 1 May 2026. The Net-Zero Framework survived unchanged despite opposition from the United States and oil-producing nations. An intersessional Working Group will address concerns ahead of the 85th session in December 2026. The session adopted a North-East Atlantic Emission Control Area and measures on marine plastic litter.
